New Shatter-Resistant Hybrids Join CROPLAN® Spring Canola Line Up

Recently, our team at CROPLAN® seed has been looking at several promising experimental varieties of spring canola that were displaying strong resistance to shatter and pod drop. After putting them through another season of rigorous shatter resistance testing, we’re excited to report two of these products have joined the CROPLAN spring canola portfolio: one LibertyLink® hybrid and one variety of TruFlex™ spring canola with Roundup Ready® technology. We did a soft launch of these products this year and will have a full supply available for spring 2026 planting. Here’s a quick look at both.
Shatter data from Answer Plot® testing has us anticipating that CP7500LL could score a 7 or 8 in the Canola Council of Canada’s shatter risk assessment (the industry’s standard model for rating shatter and pod drop tolerance). In addition to being the strongest shatter resistant hybrid in the CROPLAN LibertyLink® lineup, this has the potential of making CP7500LL one of the top shatter-resistant LibertyLink® hybrids in the industry.1
CP7500LL boasts a strong disease package; it has resistance to multiple clubroot pathotypes, strong blackleg resistance and good tolerance to verticillium stripe. It also has robust emergence, helping it stay ahead of early weed pressure, which may be particularly beneficial in areas like the Dakotas with diverse and harder-to-manage weeds.
I personally have been pretty excited about bringing CP9551TF spring canola to market. A few of our CROPLAN seed retailers have participated in field tests, and they’ve been chomping at the bit to offer it to their customers.
CP9551TF canola is a medium-to-short, 90-day maturity plant that features great standability and high yield potential. Strong vigor and early flowering help it fit environments spanning from North Dakota and Montana to the Pacific Northwest.

CP7500LL LibertyLink® Spring Canola
The new CROPLAN CP7500LL spring canola fills an important role for LibertyLink® canola producers across our footprint — especially in North Dakota, where the mid-maturity, potentially high-yielding plant is an excellent fit.Shatter data from Answer Plot® testing has us anticipating that CP7500LL could score a 7 or 8 in the Canola Council of Canada’s shatter risk assessment (the industry’s standard model for rating shatter and pod drop tolerance). CP9551TF TruFlex™ Spring Canola
New CROPLAN CP9551TF TruFlex™ spring canola is a top candidate for straight-cut operations. It has shown high shatter resistance at Answer Plot locations — even stronger than that of CP9978TF canola.1 Since the fall of 2024, CP9978TF has been renowned as one of the highest shatter-resistant spring canola hybrids in the industry. This illustrates just how impressive the new CP9551TF product is.I personally have been pretty excited about bringing CP9551TF spring canola to market.
